Kaddisch
Switzerland 1997. 35mm, colour, 90 min.
Kaddisch - a jewish prayer which children recit for their dead parents. "Kaddisch" - in memory of a man who was dropped as a child into this nightmare century and who, as an adult, has done his best to survive. "Schiwa" is the reunion after a burial at which the living exchange stories that are part of history. - "At some point it will be time to stand still, to linger at the cross-roads and inspect your slender provisions; then, hesitantly, to make your way home, aware that you are nothing but sand in the shoes of those who are coming." Gertrud Kolmar (1894 Berlin - 1943 Auschwitz)
